Middle schools span the crucial transitional years between childhood and adolescence, which can be a challenging time, both socially and emotionally, for many students. During this period, middle-level students experience tremendous intellectual and developmental growth, and middle-level teachers must balance academic rigor with developmentally appropriate instructional strategies that encourage self-discovery and meet individual and external learning needs.
iWalkthrough Middle School was developed to help middle-level administrators and teachers identify instructional practices and classroom characteristics that can accelerate learning and keep young adolescents engaged. Among many other criteria, the tool allows educators to collect and analyze grade-level data on instructional trends, which can be used to target professional development and build more effective and collegial teacher teams.
